Dr. Christina Sanchez, from the Compultense University in Madrid, Spain, has been studying the anti-tumor effects in THC, the main psychoactive ingredient within cannabis.

Dr. Sanchez’s findings have given information that describes how THC can successfully eliminate cancer cells—without any side effects towards healthy cells. In addition to other studies, such as British scientist, Was Liu, an oncologist at the University of London’s St. George’s medical school. Liu’s extensive research has shown how THC includes ‘potent anti-cancer activity,’ and will ‘target and switch off’ ways that allow cancer to grow.

Liu adds that pharmaceutical’s spend billions on drugs that do the exact same thing, while cannabis does it completely naturally. In the video below, Dr.Sanchez explains how THC eliminates cancer cells by stimulating the body’s cannabinoid receptors, creating endocannabinoids. Cannabis can effectively do this without any psychoactive symptoms.

“There’s quite a lot of cancers that should respond quite nicely to these cannabis agents,” Liu said.

“If you talk about a drug company that spent billions of pounds trying to develop these new drugs that target these pathways, cannabis does exactly the same thing – or certain elements of cannabis compounds do exactly the same thing – so you have something that is naturally produced which impacts the same pathways that these fantastic drugs that cost billions also work on.”
It comes at an important time when states are going through legalization processes for medical marijuana, and the federal government is being pressured to downgrade cannabis as an illegal drug—an unfit and deplorable definition of a natural plant that the Feds say ‘has no medicinal value,’ even while they have patents on the plant. So, all in all, the fed’s are still against cannabis even while owning patents on it. Patent No. 6,630,507, for an example, is for cannabinoids as neuroprotectants and antioxidants. This could be why the government is dragging their feet on this issue.

In fact, three scientists from the Department of Health and Human Services have summarized their findings submitted with the patent application: “The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neurprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke or trauma, or the treatment of neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia.”

They do know for sure, that it can help in the treatment of various forms of cancer. In Hindu texts cannabis was referred to as ‘sacred grass.’ It was widely used in Chinese medicine for many centuries. Cannabis can replace unhealthy medicine, and reduces pain. Dr. Sanchez’s studies adds in to the centuries of wisdom that surrounds the medicinal use of cannabis.
